Senseless

I led the church in prayer this morning for the victims and the families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, CT. During my prayer I said something about people trying to make sense of this tragedy but that they’d search in vain. It’s senseless. Even if we knew with 100% surety the killer’s reasons for murdering these people we still wouldn’t be able to make sense of it. So my prayer was along the lines of asking that the people trying to make sense of the tragedy would find the God of comfort instead. It doesn’t make sense that someone would murder 20 children and another 6 adults, but it does make sense that God is there to love those most affected and pick up the pieces of their broken hearts.
