Eucharistic Poetry

In looking at Jesus’ “Bread of Life” discourse in John 6 we come to a climactic statement in vs. 55 where Jesus says, “For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.” In Greek, however, it rhymes (assuming the inadequacy of Erasmian pronunciation). John wrote:

We have Eucharistic poetry!
