Quote of the Day

Claude Welch:

Where in Christian history the Spirit has not been clearly recognized as the Spirit of the Son (and therefore also of the Father of the Son), there has arisen what H. R. Niebuhr calls a “unitarianism of the Spirit,” which tends inevitably toward the deification of the human spirit, the exaltation of one who is possessed rather than the One who possesses.

“The Holy Spirit and the Trinity,” Theology Today 8 (1959), 29.
