In the Mail

I got two big boxes and a small padded envelope on the mail today. The first big box had the books I just got from UND Press. Again, they were:

The second box had my recent Amazon book order containing the following:

I bought the Anderson book used in “very good” condition. Admittedly, it fits Amazon’s guidelines of being “A copy that has been read, but remains in excellent condition. Pages are intact and are not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged,” but that’s small comfort considering that there’s a crease in the cover and the bottom right corners of a lot of the pages are dogeared. The text is clean and the binding is tight so that’s a plus, and I got it for I think $10 or $11 cheaper than the new version cost.

And finally, in the padded envelope, was my copy of Fallout: New Vegas. This package shipped from Lexington, KY and regular readers know my problems with this particular warehouse. I half expected the game to be cracked in half when I opened the package. While I can’t say that the game was broken (I still haven’t opened the actual game case yet) I can say that the slip cover was creased. I’m not surprised. Had it been a book then the cover would have been creased (even for a new copy!). This warehouse is in need of reform! Seriously!

But all in all today was a good day to get some mail. I can’t wait to get into all this stuff.

  1. Saw a copy of “Game of Thrones” in our Walmart and thought of you. Amazon is cheaper, though.

Personally I just watched Appaloosa on BluRay (twice!) and am now ready to read the other three books, since I don’t foresee movie sequels.

  2. NIck: Be warned. “Appaloosa” is more character piece than action film.

You want action “13 Assassins” hits the stores next week. Best Kurosawa homage since Kurosawa died. Ridiculously action packed finale.
