Fortress Press sent along a copy of Leo Perdue’s Reconstructing Old Testament Theology: After the Collapse of History for review. I’m hoping that this will be a nice supplemental volume to the various OT theologies I plan to look through this year.

Read James Barr!! Seriously though, is he on your list? Just OT stuff.

  2. Nick Norelli says:

Bryan: I have some Barr. But I’m looking for specifically OT theologies to complement Von Rad. Barr’s book is a Biblical Theology book. I want to read him against Childs like I’ve been meaning to do for the last few years!

  3. Bryan El says:

Yeah Barr’s big book is about OT theology rather than an OT theology. I think Perdue is too. Barr is not nice to Childs.

You may wish to check out Rendtorff’s The Canonical Hebrew Bible: A Theology of the Old Testament.

Richard: Ya know, I searched Amazon for some of Rentdorff’s stuff but I wasn’t happy with the prices. I do want to read the book you mentioned though.
