Am I the only one who’s been disappointed in Heroes so far this season? Is it just me or is it shaping up to be as lame as last season? I’m dedicating this post (which will receive a permanent link on the sidebar) to spouting off about Heroes in the comments. Share your thoughts, whatever they are, about any episode of the season. Reader beware, there might be some spoilers in the comments. Alright Heroes fans, sound off!

I think thinks are about to jump off in the forthcoming episodes, but I am a bit disappointed in the action. Hopefully things will begin to build.

I watched the show faithfully through last season, but I was just too peeved at how things ended last year to pick it up again this year. It really got retarded towards the end, and nothing I’ve hear about the current season makes me want to pick it up again.
I’m trying “Fringe” on for size. Seems to be an adequate replacement, and it fills the X-Files/Battlestar Galactica-shaped hole in my life.
By: philosophickle on October 12, 2009

Nancy: I’ll give it to the end of the season.
philosophickle: I felt the same way but I decided to give it one more go. So far I wish I had just done what you did.
And I love Fringe. When it first started airing I said, “It’s kind of like the X-Files, but good.”

Yep. Mostly boring and deathly slow-paced. Only Matt Parkman’s thread really holds any interest at the moment.

I don’t watch it myself, but the BBC has chosen not to carry it any more. Maybe Britons are falling out of love with it…

Christopher: Now that Sylar is free from Parkman’s mind-trick I don’t know that his thread will be worth watching at all (but then again, I’ve never been a fan of that character).
Will: I couldn’t blame them.
Chuck: Yeah, except in the comics it’s usually good.

By: Christopher Heard on October 13, 2009

Christopher: I think he’s free. At the very least he’s been freed from the control that had him forcibly morphed into Nathan (how I pray he’s gone for good!).

To be honest, Nick, this is the first season I’ve liked since season 1! I’m still wondering what these carnival mutants are up to (though I have to admit that my reaction was “big deal” when I learned who pushed Claire’s roommate out the window).
By: James Pate on October 14, 2009
at 3:48 pm
James: Yeah, I wasn’t so impressed by that either. Peter’s invisibility was much cooler in season 1. But I can’t say that the carnies interest me all that much even though I am a little curious as to what their end game is.
By: Nick Norelli on October 14, 2009

Emma Coolidge’s ability is very interesting. Seeing and manipulating sound waves may turn out to be an extraordinary ability. I look forward to see how her and Peter’s relationship develope.
By: Troy on October 14, 2009

Nick, I have been disappointed but still curious enough to keep watching. Sylar and the carnie’s should be interesting. It is lacking action, and not sure what they are planning with Hiro.
By: Robert Jimenez on October 14, 2009
at 10:02 pm
Troy: Right now I’m unimpressed with it. We’ll see if she (or Peter) figures out how to do something cool with it.
Robert: Sylar is the only reason to watch in my opinion. But he better get back to his maniacal self soon!
By: Nick Norelli on October 15, 2009
at 8:02 am
Tonight’s episode showed a little bit of promise. I really wish they’d give Peter his regular power back though. This one-at-a-time business is getting on my nerves. I expect Sylar to be back to his old self soon enough. If he isn’t then I don’t know what glimmer of hope the show has left.
By: Nick Norelli on October 19, 2009
at 11:46 pm
Yes, I think so too. You know though, Sylar may in fact turn out to be a good guy in the end (remember one future episode where he didn’t want to use his powers and had a little boy?). I mean, he was always wanting a family right, and the need to be loved and accepted as someone special is something he might experience and know in a community. The biblical theme of community seemed to be in the back of my mind for this one.
Maybe Peter will encounter one that had his original ability?
By: Troy on October 20, 2009
at 9:04 pm
Troy: If he does end up good I don’t think it’s going to be by staying with the Carnival. They clearly want him to go back to his former self.
I wish Peter would encounter Sylar and just take his ability to figure out how other people’s powers work. That way he’ll be able to get a whole bunch again.

Nick, there was a bit of hope last night of rescuing this season from being a big dud. I am not that impress so far and it feels like it is really dragging and a bit boring.
By: Robert Jimenez on October 21, 2009

Robert: Yeah, it’s dragging. Sylar is my last hope for the show. He needs to start doing something soon, good or bad.

Wow! Worst episode of the season so far, and that’s saying something! Why did they waste the whole show on that stupid Jeremy kid? And what on earth was that retarded sorority death hunt? I think I now hate Heroes!

BTW, what was up with Sylar not being able to handle his liquor? Was this something I was supposed to be able to understand, but I can’t because I have a Heroes memory gliche?
By: James Pate on October 27, 2009
at 12:01 am
Robert: Sadly you will be disappointed. :-(
James: I’ll have to go back and watch it because I dozed off for like 30 seconds right when he started drinking. I’m not sure it had as much to do with Sylar as it did with Parkman. I guess him getting drunk was supposed to mess the part of his mind up that Sylar resided in. Guess that didn’t work out so well for him. I don’t know, I’ll check it out again tomorrow and see what’s up. For right now I’ll just chalk it up to a stupid plot that made no sense.
By: Nick Norelli on October 27, 2009

Nick,
well it was not great, but not bad enough to keep me from watching next week. I really hope it gets interesting soon. It just feels like they are filling time because they have no creative ideas what to do.
By: Robert Jimenez on October 27, 2009
at 10:39 am
Robert: I’ve lost faith. I don’t think it’s going to get better. I can’t believe a whole episode was wasted on that kid when they just ended up killing him off. And his power sucked anyway. Plus, the loving, caring, nurturing, Noah Bennet is not the character I’ve come to know and love. I really hate this season!
By: Nick Norelli on October 27, 2009
at 11:20 am
Nick, I know what you mean, I am just trying not to give up hope. I keep thinking each week it’s going to get better, and it’s not.
By: Robert Jimenez on October 27, 2009
at 11:45 am
Robert: Exactly my point. It’s like this: I believe the sun will rise tomorrow because I saw it rise today, and yesterday, and the day before that. Based on that pattern I expect it to do the same thing. Based on Heroes‘ pattern of sucking this season, and last, and somewhat the season before that, I’m convinced that it’s going to continue to suck.
By: Nick Norelli on October 27, 2009
at 12:52 pm
Nick, I know and I think you are right! But I must remain optimistic ;-) Well I can always read a book while it is playing in the background and if it gets interesting I’ll put the book down and watch. That way it won’t be a complete waste of time.

Here’s a question I’ve got: Why is it that the Sprint Heroes blubs have actors from the show (namely, the Carnies), whereas the Sprint Desperate Housewives blurbs do not? My guess is that the Carnies work cheap, or they need the money.
By: James Pate on November 3, 2009

James: I wasn’t aware that they did something similar with Desperate Housewives. Your guess is as good as mine as to why the actual actors appear in the blurbs.

Cool, well I will see if things get better, I hope so. Well if I bail, which I doubt that I will I can now look forward to Basketball! My favorite sport. Tomorrow the Lakers play, and hope they win again. I don’t watch much TV, and only follow a few shows, Heroes being one of them
By: Robert Jimenez on November 3, 2009

Robert: I think I’ve convinced myself that this will be my last season of Heroes. I honestly don’t like the direction it’s taken and I don’t know that I’m going to want to invest any more time in another season. Unless some drastic changes occur I’m done.

Hang in there Nick, it might keep getting better. I’ll be watching tonight, so now I am really looking forward. I’ll let Becky know since she has been pretty upset so far. My son has been rather patient with them so far, he has really been hoping it will get better.

True, Paul Giamatti could have an entirely different voice from his normal one, so it’s not surprising that Danko could step out of character!

Tonight’s episode was okay. Nothing spectacular. Hiro has been bugging me more than usual lately. Surresh actually didn’t bother me at all tonight and that’s rare!

I was a little unclear about “Nathan” touching Peter and that flash occurring. So where is Sylar’s spirit now?
I liked learning a little bit more about the leader of the Carnies. I’m actually looking forward to next week’s episode.
By: James Pate on November 17, 2009
at 8:51 am
James: I don’t know. I don’t remember a flash and I already deleted the show from my DVR so I’ll have to wait to watch it on the NBC website to see what I think.
The back story for Samuel was enlightening, but I’m still not sure exactly what his power is. He controls earth, but is that it?
By: Nick Norelli on November 17, 2009
at 10:17 am
James, I am pretty sure that Peter absorbed all of Nathan’s power, including all of Sylar’s. Sylar is definitely back in his on body (i.e. Nathan).
Well it has gotten better, but it was so slow and they wasted so much time with things that did not help the story at all.
**SPOILER ALERT** They are finally letting us see just how dangerous Samuel is, and the only reason he is gathering others like him is because it makes his powers stronger. **SPOILER ALERT**
By: Robert Jimenez on November 17, 2009
at 11:40 am
Robert: I wondered about that, whether Peter got all of Sylar’s powers or just the flying. Obviously it wasn’t Nathan that he touched, but Peter only picks up a single power at a time now (which is something I HATE!). So did he get Sylar’s original power of being able to figure out how everything works and then do it or what?
And yeah, it made more sense why Samuel was so bent on expanding his ‘family.’ But still, what exactly is his power that it will be so dangerous once it’s increased a thousandfold?
By: Nick Norelli on November 17, 2009
at 11:58 am
Nick, that is my guess that Peter got all of his powers, but we will have to wait and see. Since Sylar has all of these powers, I think that when Peter touched them he got them all at *once*, at least that is my hunch.
Samuel’s power was the cause of the major earthquakes in the movie 2012 – hahaha ??? I don’t know, but we will see soon.
Oh BTW, having you been keeping up with Curb Your Enthusiasm? Last episode next week, and they are finally going to do the Seinfeld Reunion.
By: Robert Jimenez on November 17, 2009
at 12:57 pm
Robert: I hope he did get all his powers. Then he can go back to being a cool hero!
Yeah, I’ve been watching Curb Your Enthusiasm. Best season ever! The way I see it, they’ve been doing a Seinfeld reunion all season! I was just talking to my dad about it and it’s got to be tough for them to play a version of themselves playing their characters from Seinfeld. It’s been funny though.
By: Nick Norelli on November 17, 2009
at 1:39 pm
Okay, so Samuel’s power is just being able to move the earth. Big deal. I don’t think Peter got all of Sylar’s powers and if he did he sure did a terrible job of putting them to work. Also, Claire has worn out her welcome with the incessant rebelliousness. It was annoying the past two seasons and just when I thought we were free of it she starts up again. Having said that, I think that tonight’s episode was one of the better ones of the season, but I’m still struggling to be impressed with any of it.
