Why Professors Blog

I’ve just learned of a new book from Crossway entitled The New Media Frontier: Blogging, Vlogging, and Podcasting for Christ in which Fred Sanders is a contributor.  He’s posted excerpts from interviews with well known academic bloggers Michael Bird, Scot McKnight, Andreas Köstenberger, and Peter Liethart on his blog The Scriptorium Daily.  Apparently some of this material didn’t make it through editing so his blog is the only place where it can be read.  Go on over and check it out.

  1. When you say, “didn’t make it through editing,” do you mean that the publisher cut it — for whatever reason? Length, content? I’ve seen this a number of times — even where a book of theology I’ve copyedited and then indexed had some material axed in the interim. Some stuff was deemed, I believe, a little too touchy for the general public. I was happy to have seen the unexpurgated version.

I work all the time for theological and university presses, and often for individual authors/professors and ABDs. Please feel free to stop by my blog: boblandedits.blogspot.com.

    Thanks.

  2. Czar: Yes, that’s what I mean. In Sanders’ own words:

Some of these quotes you’ll find in the book, some didn’t make it through the final edit and are appearing for the first and only time in this post.

I’ll give your blog a look. Thanks for stopping by.
