It seems that bloggers are now receiving their copies of the ESVSB, either for review or just because they liked them enough to purchase their very own copy. Why I received mine so early I don’t know. As far as I’m aware, I was the first to lay hands on this wonderful resource outside of the folks who actually worked on it. I think this just goes to show what I’ve been saying all along, i.e., I’m more awesomer than most folks give me credit for. But I digress…
In any event, my prediction is this: In the days, weeks, months to come we will see quite a few posts/reviews of the ESVSB (of which I am [here & here], and will continue to be, a part), but for some reason I suspect that it will be fewer than we saw with regard to the NLTSB. Why? I have no idea, but that’s my premonition (which btw, if you saw the movie Premonition starring Sandra Bullock then I’m sorry, I had the displeasure of catching some of it the other night and it was awful!).

not sure if I’ll be getting one even though I blogged on it and got on the ESV website. I’ll have to ask.
Probably because of the perceived bias
I will be collecting the reviews as I’m doing with the NLTSB and we’ll see how it turns out.

Study Bibles? Bleh!!

Brian,
I think I got my copy after filling out a form or something on this page:
http://www.crossway.org/catalog/press
Brian: I suspect you’ll have to request a review copy if you want one (or buy one).
Jeremiah: I think it has more to do with marketing. I think the NLT crew really marketed their study Bible in the right way. The promotion on the ESV on the other hand was somewhat obnoxious, with statements like this is the best Bible ever. We’ll see how it goes though.
Jeff: Good, I’m sure you’ll catch a lot that I miss.
Bryan: Better than philosphy books! ;)
Nathan: Yeah, that’s one way of doing it.
NLT also sent out a lot of review copies and ESV only a few. Those without review copies may be less inclined to spend the time doing a review. I’ll probably just take some nice pictures. I actually bought mine and didn’t mooch off the publisher. (Although someday I’d like to do that.)
Jeff
Jeff: Yeah, the NLT marketing campaign was second to none. They knew what they were doing. And it’s not mooching, you’re providing as much of a service to them as they are to you.
I was joking about the mooching. I shouldn’t say that or I’ll get blacklisted. I’m starting to write some reviews to build some skills and someday I want to be as awesome (in the eyes of publishers anyway) as you.
Jeff
Jeff: I’ll let you in on a little secret… [whispers] It really is mooching, but I have to say that it isn’t so I don’t get black listed! [/whispers] ;)
Brian, I’m with you.
“Will work for books”
TC: In what regard are you with Brian? Not knowing whether or not you’ll get one?
Jeff: As long as “work” = “review” then I’m with you!
Nate: done.
Yes, that’s what I meant. I don’t think standing on a street corner with a sign will work though. Or should I say it didn’t work when I tried it.
Jeff
Jeff: Didn’t work for me either… :-|
i’m jealous… i’ll prolly not get one for a good year or so
I think Dr Jim Hamilton beat you by a day.
Roger: I’m sure you’ll enjoy it when you do pick one up.
Michael: Apparently there is someone nearly as awesome as I.
