Desert Compilation (3): Mixed Rock

In addition to hits from the 80s and rap (c. 1992-95) I’d also make a rock compilation, but since my taste in rock is nowhere near as well-defined as my taste in rap, this compilation would be an amalgamation of soft rock, classic rock, grunge, hard rock, heavy metal, etc.  So here it is (in no particular order):

1.    AC/DC — Back in Black
2.    Blue Öyster Cult — Don’t Fear the Reaper
3.    Metallica — Nothing Else Matters (or Fade to Black)
4.    The Eagles — Hotel California
5.    Guns N’ Roses — November Rain
6.    Pink Floyd – We Don’t Need No Education
7.    Nirvana — In Bloom (or Lithium)
8.    R.E.M. — It’s the End of the World As We Know It
9.    Linkin Park – Crawling (or Numb)
10.  Aerosmith — Dream On
11.  Tool — Prison Sex
12.  Led Zeppelin — Stairway to Heaven (or Kashmir)
13.  Queen — Bohemian Rhapsody
14.  Foreigner — Cold As Ice
15.  Journey — Don’t Stop Believin’
16.  Lynard Synard — Sweet Home Alabama
17.  Smashing Pumpkins — Today
18.  Rage Against the Machine — Killing in the Name Of

Honestly, there’s so much rock over so many sub-genres that I could make a 180 song compilation and still think of more to add.  Perhaps I’d have to take Bryan L’s advice and get an 80GB iPod for this one.

  1. I love the latter halves of both “Dont fear the Reaper” and “November Rain.”

  2. Ranger: Yeah, me too.

  3. Eh… replace that whole list with AC/DC and you’d be in much better shape.

  4. ElShaddai: Nah… I’m a fan of certain songs, but that’s about as far as that goes.

  5. Most of these are before my time. Actually, all of them. I need to expand my collection of classic rock.

  6. Blake: Most of them are from before my time too.

  7. Pink Floyd “We Don’t Need No Education”? Are you trying to specify which part of “Another Brick in the Wall” you like most?

BTW I made a few changes to your list ; )

  8. Bryan: I suppose I could have said “Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. II” but a lot of people might not know what I was referring to. “We Don’t Need No Education” is readily identifiable.
