Drew recently posted a list of transcendant films that left an impression on him, and he noted that he tended toward the darker side of things in this category. So in the comment I left 10 dark-type films that have left a lasting impression on me. So here they are:
1. Primal Fear (Edward Norton; Richard Gere)
2. Seven (Morgan Freeman; Brad Pitt)
3. Frailty (Matthew McConaughy; Bill Paxton)
4. Kids (Leo Fitzpatrick; Roasrio Dawson)
5. The Sixth Sense (Bruce Willis; Haley Joel Osment)
6. Freeway (Reece Witherspoon; Keifer Sutherland)
7. The Doom Generation (Rose McGowan)
8. Identity (John Cusak; Ray Liota)
9. 8MM (Nicholas Cage; Joquin Phoenix)
10. The Butterfly Effect (Ashton Kutcher; Amy Smart)

I’m thinking about doing this but so much of it will just be my favorite movies list so I dunno.
Interesting list though. : )

Bryan: Yeah, these are what I would call “oh sh*t” movies (but I opted to take Drew’s description which is more family friendly). These aren’t necessarily my favorite movies, but they are all movies that left me saying “oh sh*t” at one point or another (usually the end).

Ahh that makes a lot more sense of the list then and definitely changes it up. I’ll get to thinking.

Roger: Fight Club could get an honorable mention, but to be honest, I got bored with the movie towards the end; so much so, that when Edward Norton’s character realized he was Tyler Durden, I didn’t really care.

I forgot to mention, Kids is great. I loved how raw that movies was and real at the same time. That director definitely had some nuts to do that movie and was really doing his homework.
You know what another movie that is somewhat similar to that movie and really good? A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints.
I loved it and it really brought up a lot of emotions connected with growing up. I think you might like it. Plus it has Robert Downey Junior in it. I think I’m gonna go add it to my list.

Bryan: If it has Robert Downey, Jr. in it, then I’m already sold. He’s great in everything. I’ll have to check that out some time.
