Pet Peeves: Movie Talking

I absolutely despise all talking during a movie.  I’m talking about going to the theater and having to endure someone talking.  I don’t want to pay the nearly $30 that it costs to get a couple of tickets and some popcorn to have to hear someone yapping all throughout the movie.

But of all the forms of talking in the movies, the one that bothers me the most is when the person you’re with asks you questions about the movie.  My sister and I used to see a lot of movies together when we were teenagers and she would always ask me questions, and every time she’d ask I’d have to explain to her that I was seeing the movie for the first time just like she was, and I knew just as much as she did!

Movies are meant to be watched, not talked through!

Yes, I totally agree. And this is why teenagers should not be allowed to movies…or they should have separate theaters just for teens. It seems to me the whole reason teens even go to movies is just to talk, giggle, text, or get up and down and run around during the entire film. Agh. :o)

I agree with the questions thing. Although not all talking is bad. I remember going to see Nightmare On Elmstreet III in Georgetown in DC. My dad and I were the only white folk in the room. It was like church at a COGIC, just not really. “Don’t you go upstairs now!” “Ohhh you did NOT just do that!” “Damn! That’s nasty!” You get the idea :-)
