What’s in/on your:

Yes, oh yes, another meme!  This time I want to know what’s in/on your:

  • CD Player
  • DVD Player
  • To Read List
  • To See List
  • Mind

I currently have a mix CD with songs from Jay Z, Eminem, Mobb Deep, et. al. in my CD player.

I currently have Braveheart, The Patriot, Spiderman III, Tramsformers, and Live Free or Die Hard in my DVD player (obviously it’s a 5 disc player).

I currently have (1) John Barton’s The Nature of Biblical Criticism, (2) Christopher J. H. Wright’s Knowing Jesus Through the Old Testament, and (3) Tim Chester’s Delighting in the Trinity on my short ‘to read’ list.

I currently have American Gangster, 30 Days of Night, and Rambo IV on my ‘to see’ list.

I currently have book reviews on my mind.  There’s a lot to do and not a lot of time to do them.

I tag Bryan L, Mike Aubrey, Pat McCullough, and Pistol Pete.  Go therefore and make disciples of all bloggers… :-P

Since you don’t feel the need to justify your movie or music choices, let me just make a quick observation: Garbage in, garbage out. :-P

Seriously though, it may not be wrong, but it is spiritual junk food. There’s nothing wrong with Doritos and bon bons, but what that becomes your diet, we call it gluttony.

Ain’t nothing wrong with gluttony in a land of plenty! I call it blessings.
; )

It’s funny how we can read about murder, violence, rape, incest, etc. in the Bible and it’s edifying or we can watch documentaries about the bloodiest wars known to man and it’s educational but as soon as we throw on a rap record or watch a vampire flick it’s garbage… Ponder these things…

You find the “murder, violence, rape, incest, etc. in the Bible” edifying?

hmmm….

Maybe you should make a vow to God to abstain from secular music and movies for five years. Five years of Amy Grant and Time Changer would do you well. :)

Bryan,

Well, no… But it’s in the Bible so it has to be good, right? ;)

Ryan,

Umm… no!

Man I would love to see a gritty and dark version of the Bible made into a movie (rated R of course). That would be awesome and very edifying!

I’ve seen so many Bible movies that it’s sickening… None of them are ever as I see it when reading (and why is Ben Kingsley in like all of them?). The Passion of the Christ came close but I always pictured Jesus’ suffering as being much worse. But it was a great movie visually…

[...] 20, 2007 in books, memes I’ve been tagged by Nick Norelli to say what’s in/on [...]

Thanks for the tag. I’ll give it some thought and do a post some time after Christmas.

I embarrassingly mainly use my MP3 player even though I’m an audiophile. It mainly has classical and electronic with no vocals so I can nap and read with it.

We don’t have a DVD player yet believe it or not.

We have Bruce Almighty recorded on DVR. I’m kind of afraid of being frustrated with it though.

On my mind is trying to make a blog post with the interesting things in R.C. Sproul’s Knowing Scripture. Also Esteban’s interesting post about liturgy commenting on Zechariah.

To read list-I will make a shameless plug for my blog post for today:

remind me to do this tomorrow…
