Heresy Hunters…

Doug Chaplin points us to a group of heresy hunters disguising their blog as some sort of ‘ministry’ outreach.  They of course don’t allow comments (who would with the crap they say?) so anyone who wants to respond to them will have to do so on their own blogs.  In steps me :)  In a post called Dumping Sola Scriptura the heresy hunters inform us that:

First, we need to confirm that the Bible is indeed the sole source of knowledge about God. Nothing about God can be discovered through any other means than through His Word. Not only is the Bible the sole source of knowledge about God, but it is also the sole source of knowledge of morality (right and wrong) and of every important matter that affects mankind. For generations believers and churches have confirmed that the Bible is the only authoritative and infallible rule of faith, practice, doctrine and daily living. Or in the words of the Reformers: “Sola Scriptura” (only Scripture).

Umm… :-|  In there reading of the Bible didn’t they catch that part in Romans 1 about ‘natural revelation’?  You know, that’s that revelation that’s not ’special revelation’ (i.e., scripture) ;)  Perhaps I should quote the BIBLE lest I get accused of being a heretic.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of people who suppress the truth by their unrighteousness, because what can be known about God (γνωστὸν τοῦ θεοῦ) is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them (ὁ θεὸς γὰρ αὐτοῖς ἐφανέρωσεν). For since the creation of the world his invisible attributes — his eternal power and divine nature — have been clearly seen (καθορᾶται), because they are understood (νοούμενα) through what has been made. So people are without excuse. (Rom. 1:18-20, NET — Italics mine)

Guess they missed that part. :-|
