I haven’t been frequenting the chat rooms as much lately and I am reminded why every time I do stroll in.  I just got done talking to a skeptic who played the usual role of the ostrich content with his head in the sand.  Same ol’ nonsense as always.  He claims that Jesus wasn’t born in Bethlehem, I point him to scholarly materials saying otherwise.  He calls it a ‘cop out’ — I mean God forbid we actually cite relevant scholarly material that answers the arguments presented!  He then played the role of the child and kept saying, ‘why’ and ‘prove it’ while not listening to any answers offered or just responding to them with more ‘why’ or ‘prove its’ — I know… I know… pathetic.  And don’t ever try to explain to a skeptic that it is entirely possible for one passage of scripture to employ a literary device such as hyperbole or allegory and another portion of scripture to record a literal history!!!  They’ll just accuse you of being ‘inconsistent’ and not ‘really’ believing the Bible!  Again and again I continue to be disappointed with the argumentation and attitude of chat room skeptics — but in their defense I haven’t seen much better from those on the Secular Web. =/
